New Genesis Earth 2015 A.D.

So here is the map I made to show what the Earth in New Genesis looks like in an alternate universe, I was thinking wether or not I would make one but, readers and would-be fans are gonna ask what they look like and how much is different compared to ours. So I had to look for a map with blank and borderlines, it took longer then I thought to get the details right and thought which countries would likely be different.

The rest would remain the same so I just focus on some for the time being. May contain some spoilers but just a working concept for the fictional universe to give you the idea so far.

After the New Genesis event occurred in 1962, the four races across the world cease warfare and settled on the new changes that have happened to their world, the majority of the governments ultimately voted for a peaceful negotiation to hopefully build a peaceful coexistence with them. But it did not stop there as many things have changed over the decades.

In the early 1980s, the United States of America and the Soviet Union ultimately collapsed through civil unrest, politic conflicts and riots since the discovery of using the alien artefacts commonly referred in the 21^st century as “Gen Artefact”. Many voiced their own concerns against the actions since the assassination of the Lemurian ambassador Natheah, which lead to the disastrous moment that would forever change the fate of humanity. The effects from the alien relics had spread almost across the globe on certain individuals. The four races and many factions are slowly adjusting to their new world and expanding outwards throughout system in the early 21^st century, 

since the event, a peacekeeping Order known as the Society once a secret society from human civilizations for untold centuries became known to preserve the peace between the four races, find and secure the Gen Artefacts from the wrong hangs to ensure another New Genesis never happens.

1. The Wildlands:

Territories once part of the United States now inhabited by those forced to survive on their own after the US dissolved. The most notable inhabitants of the Wildlands are the Endre, a name giving to those who have been exposed by the Gen Artefacts and forced to survive in the former US states that were quarantined after the New Genesis Event and now live as hermits and remain isolated from the world for some reason other then their mutations and mixed rumours. 

There are still some human communities that either stayed willing or had been left behind by their governments.

Most of it has now been in a state of stife by warlords and former US loyalists seeking to claim much of the Wildlands as they can for obvious reasons: revenge, create a new order, or to seek power. However, the other reason for being called the Wildlands is due to mutations from the alien relics have altert some of the wildlife and still wonder the territories. 



Most of Russia has also been quarantined and given the similar name but the current status of that area is so far unknown but very likely have similar type of creatures inhabiting the area.

Mexico is planning on to reclaim some of the non-controlled southern territories they can for the hope of a new nation of Aztlán, even if they are prepared for conflict against any warring factions.

3. Texan Federation:
Since after the War of Ignorance ended, Texas was one of the first to succeed from the United States after the humiliation the nation received of the First Contact incident and the inhumane experiments the public was outraged and suffered enough and seeing the corruption within the government. They were the first to succeed to become a sovereign nation and mostly allied with the New Republic of America as most of the current generation wishes to rekindle the bond with the rest of the continent. The Texan Federation, or mostly referred to as the "T-Feds" seeks to maintain a strong military power to protect their country and survive against any challenges thrown at them in the new era.
 

4. Lakotah Republic:
A tribal nation formed by the Native Americans  who wished to earn a sovereignty of their people in the North American Borders since the collapse of the USA, being the smallest and youngest nation in the former US territories the republic is more on friendly relations with the Kronan Ree Tribes , the Society and some factions in the northern Wildlands. Creating a confederation of races and cultures to form a peaceful community and has some form of military to defend themselves while close the Wildlands. The government is run by a group of 'Elders' who are valued for their experiences rather then social status. 

5. Kronan Ree Tribes:
The Kronan Ree Tribes agreed but kept the territories they annexed from the US, Africa, most of Brazil rainforest and Oceania and treated humans fairly over the years. The Kronan Ree are a race very much similar to humans, but can change their forms from human to that of a beastfolk-like creature and are a genetically diverse species that are divided into tribes led by the continents they hail from: Nor Amor (North America), Sou Amor (South America), O'Shahn (Oceania), Afo'kan (Africa), Norasia (Aisa), Auroben (Europe).



During the war they took the opportunity to reclaim some of their ancestral lands after long histories of conflicts between Kronan Ree and human,  forming an alliance with the Lemurians for common grounds of survival by starting riots and political paranoia from within. One of the biggest advantages they succeeded was the Afo'kan Tribe brought most of the African states into an alliance, founding the Greater African Commonwealth in hopes of restoring the homeland 

to it's former glory.

The Sou Amor Tribe have been in a long feud with Brazil over deforestation to the Amzon Rainforest and claim much of it as their territory until a union was declared between both species to save the Amazon in 2001.

The O'Shahn Tribe declared some of the ocean their territory using old warships they scavenged from the wars and ancient technology to defend the colonies, including islands as well.

North Eastern Europe claimed by the Auroben Tribe who wish to restore some the ancient cultures of their Nordic ancestors, Christianity is openly accepted but anything such as Nazism or anything of racial ideology is strictly forbidden. They are mostly tolerant to humans who still live in the Kronan Ree territories and those liberated from the Soviets.

6. Protectorate States of America:
The states that stayed loyal became the Protectorate States of America, a successor of the United States after the collapse. Despite the results they're still one of the strongest states over military, economic and trade influence. Mostly rivals to the 

7. Lemurian Empire:
A civilization of greenish blue skin humanoids with the given appearance of elves in western mythology, the Lemurians have long lived beneath the oceans in vast artificial colonies built by their ancestors thousands of years ago to sustain the remnants of their race to survive. By preventing problems like
 corruption, population growth, and most of all to avoid being discovered by humans at the time between the 18^th and 19^th centuries, they discovered an ancient gate technology that only linked to Mars to set up a new colony for their people. They not only relied technology to advance their civilization, but spirituality and balance between them and all of the Earth’s since the majority of Lemurians have developed the ability that surpasses humans and Kronan Ree.

After the war, they annexed India and some of the southern Asian countries under their protection in mutual understanding to remain neutral avoid war and offer to make them into protectorate states of the Lemurian Empire for the time being, although they made laws to prevent poaching on animals they consider sacred especially the tigers from their barbaric practice in greed and superstitions in medicine.

New Genesis comic up for sale!

Today I went to Newcastle to show my comic book to the Travelling Man staff, apologies for only one due to the struggle of how to use Indesign. But least for me, I'm slowly getting the hang of it and WAY different then quark express is when I was in CCAD. Getting the resolution right and the pages in the exact order was a pain.

Comic book design

So I took thought what my characters are gonna be, some would be human and alien. Working out what their appearances will be and weapons or abilities they possess. I will only show a few pages and drawings of my comic so far what they are about. To explain about the story I will add some backgrounds about the comic to save the confusion for readers on the back and in the advert page



Alien species:

The aliens that would be encountered on are something I took thought of, originally I intended them to be some hostile forces before an invasion but been given alternative ideas and suggestions, decided that Mars was once home to an ancient civilisation. I took thought of my alien and went with them being a sentient plant, as Mars has a lighter gravity then Earth they have to be tall and slender built.

Given various appearances but many would be humanoid but some minor differences like extra limbs, lacking a face to express physical emotions. Wanting to give them features of many plants then just roots.

I had decide to give them a name, Dryads from the Greek folklore of tree spirits or tree nymphs as I wanting to add some ancient astronaut genre as I have always been interested in that sort of stuff since watching Ancient Aliens that gave me new ideas.

I decided to have a full page to show an introduction to this species, it was not easy getting all the details on their bodies and create strange forms, like the one on the right has a large pincer-shaped appendage and a blade for arms. The one on the left that stands near the three would be some sort of organic-like growth that would display a projection of the planet, either it be mars, Earth or something else.

So for this character in the page is taken by surprise by the appearance of tendrils coming towards him, but reacts instantly by drawing his sword and cuts them before they could reach him. Howeevr in the panel on the bottom, more are coming out of no where and they are decide to run for their lives or fight.

Characters:


Ryac Long-Blade
Ryac Long-Blade was born on Earth before his family left for the Ark colonies when he was seven years old. Did not entirely enjoyed being on a colony with no natural air and only seeing his home world from orbit until when he turned 13, Ryac immediately developed special abilities and classified as an Edre when it was revealed that his grandmother was exposed to a Genesis Artifact some time ago and was offered training in the academy for people with abilities. Took the offer immediately as he wanted to see many worlds and travel across the system and beyond someday.

Developed kinetic abilities to control Earth-based elements and skilled with a sword, Ryac earned the family name Long-Blade to distance himself from his estranged parents due to their view on ‘non-purity’ ideals but didn’t affect him on wanting to follow his own ideals.

Sereene Hirian
A Lemurian female of the Hirian Clan, born on the Martian colony during its terraforming process until she was assigned to the Society to help learn to defend her home colony on Mars and to the Lemurian Empire like many of her clan has for generations. Like Ryac she has developed psionic abilities that have helped her earn a high rank status and earning the name "Siren" by her comrades due to her beauty and aggressive behaviour in combat.


K’Te
K’Te is a Djinn who was born in a military family that served the Djinn Regime for centuries. When he was 12 years of age his home was attacked by Purists but were saved by the Society’s selfless act of protecting them and other races. Inspired by their ways and respect they earn by the Djinn, K’Te saught to become a Samurai soldier to strengthen the relations between the races after their part in fighting the War of Ignorance.

K’Te had became very skilled and rose to the rank of commander in the few years and service to the organization after the Charon Skirmish. He was fascinated of human history and mostly towards Japan’s history of the original Samurai with their code of honour that almost relates to his people’s belief system, including their mythology and respect towards dragons then their western counterparts.



Panels:

It is important for the comic book, a major huge impact for readers to understand what is happening in each one and get a feel of the experience. Like if for example you see a huge giant towering over the character, or a vehicle in a dramatic entrance, or a fight the readers would feel more anxious to know what happens next in the comic. Not everyone realises that panel arrangement/size/position is one of the important things when making a comic and makes a good story, pictures and writing isn't enough to make a successful comic.

I knew it is important when I read a few comics and manga see why the panels were important so I had to know where the arrangements go and what happens in each one of them. 

Story plot:
In this issue, it focus on three main protagonists who landed on Mars to investigate the disappearance of the researchers a while ago. When they arrived to the outpost, they find the place torn and in a state of chaos but no sign of anyone. Until they were recently attacked by living vines and tendrils trying to snare them, possibly what happened to the missing colonists. While they manage to escape and figure out what they were, the colonists deep below have been held prisoner of the aliens, proclaiming Mars as their home planet and them being the invaders upon their 'awakening'.

Designing a logo

I've been working on the logo for my comic, to make it easier I used Adobe Illustrator to make the logos. Its been months since I've used illustrator but shouldn't be difficult to remember and not so different mostly from photoshop. drawn some shapes to get it right to match the sketch on the right.

The reason why I went for this design was so it would be considered unique and also be part of the series like many companies and organisations have beside their own titles. 

1. By making a circular shape, I've made three circles for the first step, stretched them a little and moved them into places to late cut out and make more curved shapes. I would do the same thing which had taken nearly 15 minutes to get it done and ready to join the shapes together.

2. Taken a few minutes, creating multiple circles until I got this. It was a little tricky to get the curves just right but happy how it turns out and did so for the second below.

3. This was was slightly tricky to work on, while I was still rusty on adjusting the lines as the rubber for Illustrator is MUCH difficult to use then photoshop. Went towards the U/V shape, since I've still got a lot to learn how to use illustrator I had to save it and copy on to Manga studios seeing as they don't except different formats.

4. Here are the two now completed and just need to make the final piece for the logo. The one below was down using manga studios to create a point. I was intended to finish it off to make the gaps between but scrapped the idea and saw no need to do any more to it.

5. for the final step of the design, I now had to make this one more curved, getting it right was the hard part and made sure not to make them look too thin around the edge.

did a little more on the experimentation and added another circle on top, found it to be much better so far and just need to cut the part below.

6. Repeating the same progress on a smaller shape and got this. Now all I had to do was copy and paste, then reflect it on four different angles and made sure they have space between each other.

7. This is how it turns out and now ready for some colour for the next step of making the cover. I made sure the two were at a proper size and not too big to the other and plenty of space in between the two segments.

book series idea: New Genesis

As I have been doing many drawings of aliens, monsters and characters for ideas. I have been doing some rough ideas of how the series should take place and wanting to be a well and thought I let my fellow readers and friends know what it should be about. Holds many genres, cyberpunk, alternate history/universe and science fantasy.

New Genesis: Dance of Blades

About:
Starts out when in the mid-20th century humans discovered they were not the only sentient species living on Earth, three different races: Kronan Ree, Lemurian and Djinn approached them as the nations were still at each other's throats. Allowing their paranoia to overwhelm them, war lashed out on the three races despite the three grouped together to form peaceful relations with the majority of humans.

After nearly nearly several years the war came to an end by a neutral organisation known as the Society, dedicated to maintain the balance of power on Earth and an event which was known as New Genesis that changed nearly all life on the planet, causing mutations on some species and individuals by alien technology.

The four races now live in co-existence after many decades. But a threat lurking within the shadows from space and on Earth, leading the world into a new war unlike any other in history.

Illustrations of New Genesis

So ok I have done some drawings for my project series I'm writing, slowly but not wanting to rush anything to make it a good one. So I did some rough sketches of creatures, characters and aliens for the series. Down below you would see some sketches I've made awhile ago.

 Left: So here on both pages are two alien races I came up for the later series, on the left is the tentacled alien being I named the Ta'al Vex, not wanting my aliens being naked like many classic sci fi series would unless they don't need to by their biology. I took thought of the Ta'al having a few tentacles and a humanoid torso with a triangular head, also given it two pairs of eyes.

On the right is the H'hindau (Pronounced: Ha-Hin-dau) are a large serpantine species, their faces would have a armoured face with six holes and hair growing from the heads and neck. I pictured it having six limbs also which I'm still working on for another drawing to make sure it looks right and able to move as its important to know how their bodies would move.

Above: Slit-mouth Kuchisake is one of the of my ideas for the series where she is some sort of alien assassin who can appear as a harmless and attractive woman and then turns into a deformed freak, she's clearly based on the slit mouth folklore and I thought that could work for this and give her a row of sharp teeth, lips crack further to the back the jar joints. Wanting to make her skin look stretch and almost turning into something else during her transformation.

Another race for the series would be one of the inhabitants of Earth, they are called the Djinn, clearly  a race evolved from dinosaurs who were originally moved to another planet before the comet hit the Earth 65 million years ago and one of the species evolved into what they would look in the sketch. They are more based on the common Reptilian myths living beneath the earth but in the New Genesis verse they are more advance with technology almost described as magic and have no interest in conquering humans. I pictured them having some form of culture similar to the Arabian fashion but with armour and have feathers in some parts of their bodies similar to human hair. 

I was doing some sketches and doodles, working out how one of the aliens I pictured to look advance and ancient but thought, maybe they would have organic looking bodies. I drew the side view of the creature, gave it some tentacles running down from the head and a crown-shaped crest protruding from the back of the head. Didn't want to give it a mouth but sort of a vertical mouth but they wouldn't be needed to speak since they would be telepathic most of the time. The two circles on the side were where it's arms would be located. I think it would need more work but the head looks good so far, just a bit more of a touch to work on the body.

Here is one of the type of species I am working called the Kronan Ree and wanted them to have the human/animal hybrid appearance and divided by groups from which tribes they are from; canines, arthropods, fish, bird, monkey and reptiles. They are more genetically diverse then humans and able to change between human and animal-like creatures. Not wanting them all to have a human appearance but more of a creature and have. The one above is one of these I was working on and thought how a human-insect hybrid would look like. Would still have the human 'mouth' but with some extra mandibles.

So its been awhile since I last uploaded anything on my blog and been having a relaxing summer but been on the net just to look at some art work to get some ideas. Been building up ideas of my own for my New Genesis universe and thought, if I was to make a series full of aliens I need planets and maps where they are. So I decided to use what I learned from CCAD and put it to some use to make planet realistic as they can be then what I previously created in my Deviantart account.

The planet I created is called Votao Shen, fourth planet in the Finbiri system, Perseus Arm. Gave it an earth like atmopshere and slightly heavier gravity. Wanting to make the continents have rough edges even from an orbital view like Earth's continents.

Been drawing a few maps of the planets to get the idea, all I did was look at a few maps, either real or fictional to know what continents should have when making my own. I scanned the map and made a new line over the original, that way when I add the texture it would make things easier on the next step. Made some arrangements on the countries until I find the right places for them. Made a few small islands as it they can't all be large.

What I did next was to find a few textures, small, big or large but needed to cut some out and put each piece of texture until I'm satisfied. Once this was done I turned the colour using greyscale and then clone stamped the edges to blend the texture in together using whatever texture I thought would be useful but not too much otherwise there would be repeated patterns. Used some texturse for the ice caps but needed them to be snow.

Finally, I have my own planet with an ocean, green forests and deserts. Although not all perfect but wasn't expecting it to be. Had to do some final adjustment by making some of the countries a little bigger and make some shallow seas by the edges. Wanting to leave some textures about to give some mountainous feature but maybe do more here. So I hope you all like it and more to come!
